We use the Scott Foresman Social Studies book. We spend our time working on the five regions of the United States. We learn about the land and people of each region. With each region we will be learning the states/capitals that are in each region. I will send home a map that the students have written in the states/capitals along with a map that has numbers. This map will help the students with location of the states. They will also get another map that they can cut apart to help with location. Besides the regions we will also learn about Nebraska. We have Nebraska books that we read during class. We also learn more about Fremont. We read the Townbuilder which was written a few years ago by a retired teacher. The kids seem to like learning about the city and it is fun to hear how they see some of the buildings around still today.
Our CRT test is comprehensive, so we will be drawing pictures on flashcards to help remember and study the different skills throughout the year. |
